How We Will Work

Sessions

Counselling is not an instant fix and requires time and patience. I am able to work in blocks of sessions (6-12 weeks) and am also available for longer sessions if required. I will also consider brief sessions. You can start, pause or end counselling whenever you choose, there is no set expectation for duration.

These sessions are for us to work together. We may sometimes include some psychoeducation that you can use in between sessions.

Ways We Can Work

In person, online, by telephone or walking and talking

In Person counselling

This will take place in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland in my central office. I can provide directions and more details once you are interested in attending. It is near transport routes. It has parking available and there is also a lift on the premises as there are stairs. There are separate toilets as well and a separate access to the building. This would be for 50 minutes working together.

Online counselling

This can be from anywhere in the UK - I will be in a confidential space (either in my office or from my home). I will send you a link to Google calendar and a Google Meet link. You will need to be in a safe space where you are not overheard. This might be suitable if you are feeling safer to talk from the security and comfort of your home. It can save on travel time and fit into your life. It is also ideal if you have any social anxiety, health issues or immunocompromised. This would be for 50 minutes working together.

Telephone counselling

As per online counselling.

Walk and Talk

I can arrange a walking and talking route. This would include the natural environment and eco-therapeutic techniques.

It would start from my office setting. It would include moments of reflection and places to stop and pause. The session would last 60 minutes.

Initial meeting

Our first step is an initial meeting, arranged at a mutually convenient time. This might differ from your regular slot if you continue counselling. The introduction session is free and can be over Google Meet online, by phone or in person. This will give you an idea of whether we are a good fit to work together.

First session

This will take 50-60 minutes and will involve going through the contract and a chance for you to ask any questions. We can explore what brings you to counselling and get a sense of what you are wanting to work on. At the end of the session we will agree to another session. Weekly sessions suit most people but frequency can be negotiated especially if work shifts. Sessions however are typically at the same time agreed when you meet.
